Hot-shot inerting a FRSU vessel for LNG services
Hot-shot inerting a FRSU vessel (floating storage regasification unit) to prepare it for upcoming regasification services at the first operational FRSU-based facility in Germany.
"Ready for action!" that was the last we heard on location just before we left.
With the injection of nitrogen, we inert and cool-down the vessel to a certain temperature for it to be ready and cool enough to receive LNG at a temperature of -160 degrees Celsius.
Our nitrogen service are job specific nitrogen services, that’s why we are able to inert, cool-down or heat-up all FRSU vessels, LNG tankers, and refinery specific equipment. With the challenging nitrogen market nowadays, we approached this hot-shot job differently. We stored 200.000 kg liquid nitrogen in the cryogenic tanks we have at hands. To guarantee a continues operation.
Ready for action!
What is floating storage regasification unit (FRSU)?
These FRSU vessels are able to transform the liquified natural gas from LNG tankers into gaseous natural gas and supply this to the grid. In liquid state natural gas only uses a 600th of its original volume.
In this way a LNG cargo ship can supply up to 90.000 households with gas for one year.
With filling or emptying these LNG and FSRU vessels our nitrogen services are job specific and mandatory to make sure that the handling of these vessels is done in a safe and controlled process.
